An appeals court granted, late Wednesday, the Justice Department’s request to retain control of classified materials seized at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort and continue its criminal investigation into the handling of those materials, in a major win for the government.

In a 29-page decision, the Eleventh Circuit of the US Court of Appeals in Atlanta lifted an earlier order from a federal judge that had barred federal agents from using nearly 100 classified documents that had been confiscated as part of its investigation into whether there were any national security risks. Exemplified by the way highly sensitive government materials were kept at Mr. Trump’s Florida home.
