A new poll finds that President Joe Biden’s approval rating has improved to its highest level since December, at 46 percent.
According to a Politico-Morning Consult poll published Wednesday, 85 percent of Democrats said they approved of Biden.
The president’s approval remains low among Republicans, with only 10 percent saying they approve of his work.
Among independents, the president’s approval rating is 35 percent.
The poll comes a week after an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs think-tank poll showed the president’s approval ratings rose to 45 percent from 36 percent in July.
A Gallup poll last month showed the president’s approval rose to 44 percent — his highest in a year.
The new poll continues to show an improvement in Biden’s ratings.
In recent months, his approval ratings were below 40 percent in May, June and July as inflation surged in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Recent polls have shown Democrats gaining momentum ahead of the November midterm elections, and lower ratings for his economic management come amid high inflation.
The new poll also showed that if the midterm elections were held today, 46 percent said they would vote Democrat while 41 percent said they would vote Republican.
However, 14 percent of those surveyed said they did not know who they would vote for if the midterm elections were held today.
Republicans have faced a backlash since the Supreme Court dropped Roe v. Wade this summer, eliminating protected access to abortions.
In addition, Biden’s accusation of portraying Donald Trump as a fundamental threat to democracy also found resonance after the FBI conducted searches at former President Mar-a-Lago’s Florida residence and found classified documents belonging to the US government.
The Politico-Morning Consult poll was conducted earlier this month with a margin of error of 2 percentage points for all respondents and 4 points for party disintegration.
